  • Drink Plenty of Water - air travel and outdoor exercise can quickly dehydrate the body, so drinking water is essential to keeping the body’s organs functioning optimally. Drinking 6-8 glasses a day is recommended.

  • Use Skin Moisturizers and Protectants - protect your skin by using a moisturizer to seal moisture in. You can use a household basic like Vaseline Petroleum Jelly to form a barrier between your skin and the elements.

  • Wear Sunscreen SPF 15+ (broad spectrum) - use sunscreen on exposed skin especially when in snow, on ice or at high altitudes -- all intensify the power and skin damage of UV rays. Don't forget to protect your lips too!

  • Wear Sunglasses - the glare of sun off snow causes an increased UV threat to eyes so choose sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays and wear them at all times, whether you're driving or skiing.

  • Reduce the Number of Warm Baths - hot water strips skin of natural oils and can be extremely drying to the skin so limit the number of hot baths and showers you take

  • Wear Breathable Fabrics - look for fabrics that "breathe" to help keep sweat and moisture away from skin, since 90% of clothes insulating effectiveness is lost when clothes get wet.
